Kavita R. Puri is a second generation Indian American whose current practice concentrates on immigration law.
Ms. Puri handles business and family immigration matters including various temporary visas (such as H-1B and L-1) as well as employment based permanent residence (EB-1, EB-2 and EB-3). She is well versed in most areas of U.S. immigration law including family-based immigration. Ms. Puri has significant experience in assisting international companies employing foreign workers in the Informational Technology (IT) industry.
Ms. Puri received her Juris Doctor from Campbell University, Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in Raleigh, NC, where she was a recipient of the 201l North Carolina Advocates for Justice Award. She majored in Trial Advocacy. While in law school, Ms. Puri served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Judge Barbara Jackson of the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Ms. Puri received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 2004. As a UNC student, she organized Service Events for the University’s South Asian Awareness Organization, Sangam.
In 2004, Ms. Puri lived and worked in Saitama, Japan where she taught English for the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program. From 2005 to 2007, she taught 8th grade Civics and Economics at Carl Sandburg Middle School in Fairfax, VA. Additionally, she interned for the former Senator Edward M. Kennedy at the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee office in Washington, DC.
